Quick Start

Five minutes: draw a shape, colour it, add a gradient, save and export. The steps use the Modern interface; the same tools exist in Smart and Pro, just in a different place (see The Interface).

1. Open Vectopen

A new document starts with one artboard, ready to draw on. To choose the interface, open Preferences → Theme → UI Mode and pick Smart, Modern or Pro — you can change it any time (see Switching interface).

2. Draw a shape

In the toolbar at the bottom, click the shapes button. The shape panel opens on the right: pick a rectangle, an ellipse, a star or one of the custom shapes (heart, drop, cloud…).

Click and drag on the artboard.

  • Shift — keep proportions (square, circle).
  • Alt — draw from the centre.

3. Edit it

With the select tool (the arrow, or V), click the shape:

  • Drag it to move it; drag a handle to resize it; drag the round handle above it to rotate it.
  • The inspector on the right shows exact values — position, size, rotation, opacity, fill, stroke, effects.

4. Colour and gradient

In the inspector, click the Fill swatch. Choose a colour, or switch to linear or radial gradient and drag the colour stops. The Stroke swatch works the same way — strokes can have gradients too. See Colour & Gradients.

5. Undo

Ctrl+Z undoes, Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes. Every action — drawing, moving, a colour change, a script run — is one step.

6. Save

Ctrl+S saves a .vtc file (you choose where the first time). See Project Format.

7. Export

Click Export (top bar) or use the Export section at the bottom of the inspector. Choose SVG, PDF, PNG, JPEG, WEBP… See Export & Import.
